Inter Milan are unlikely break the 2013-14 points record Juventus set in Serie A, but could still aim for their own club record.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

The highest points tally that a team has ever achieved during a single Serie A came during the 2013-14 campaign.

That was Antonio Conte’s final season in charge of Juventus.

That season, the Bianconeri did not just win the Scudetto – they absolutely romped to it.

Whilst it was not an “invincible” season with no defeats like Conte’s first at the helm, the Turin giants dropped just twelve points over the course of the entire campaign.

So that has been the benchmark ever since.

And few teams have come close to equalling, let alone breaking, the Bianconeri’s remarkable record from that season.

Napoli had looked to almost be on pace last season. But the Partenopei took their foot off the gas a bit during the last couple months of the season once they’d already wrapped up the title.

That meant that Napoli “only” managed to pick up ninety points last campaign.

Inter Unlikely To Break Juventus Serie A Points Record

This season, Inter have been the team in imperious form at the top of the Serie A table.

Prior to yesterday’s match against Napoli, the Nerazzurri had dropped just nine points during the entire campaign.

These came in a loss to Sassuolo, and draws against the likes of Bologna, Juventus, and Genoa.

Therefore, Inter have been on course for a triple-digit points total for much of the campaign.

Yesterday, however, the Nerazzurri slipped up a bit. They drew against champions Napoli, conceding the equalizer in the second half after going ahead in the first.

It is hardly a disastrous result for Inter.

The Nerazzurri are still fourteen points clear of city rivals AC Milan at the top of the table and prohibitive favourites to win the Serie A title.

But the question is whether Inter will do so with a record points total.

And the answer is starting to look like no.

Inter could still theoretically finish the season with 103 points. That would see them exceed Juventus’s points total from the 2013-14 season.

But doing this would require the Nerazzurri to win every single one of their matches for the rest of the campaign.

Even one match without a win would mean that Inter finish the season with fewer than 102 points.

But on the other hand, Tuttosport note, Inter still have every chance of breaking their own points record.

That came during the 2006-07 season under Roberto Mancini. The Nerazzurri finished that campaign with a total of 97 points.
