Striker Marcus Thuram has faced some criticism for his failure to make an impact for Inter Milan against Napoli yesterday.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, give the Frenchman a score of just 5/10 in the player ratings for the match.

Thuram started in attack for Inter in yesterday’s match.

The 26-year-old took up his usual position alongside Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez leading the line.

And it is not as though Thuram did not make an effort to contribute decisively.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach forward attempted a number of runs and dribbles to get into the penalty area and fashion chances.

But nothing really came off as far as Thuram’s more positive ideas.

The French international was never really able to get the better of Napoli defenders Amir Rrahmani or Juan Jesus.

Marcus Thuram Criticized For Ineffective Display For Inter Vs Napoli

Thuram has now been back from injury for a few matches for Inter.

But in truth, the Frenchman has not quite looked at his best since returning from the thigh problem that he had picked up during the first leg of the Nerazzurri’s Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid.

Thuram had certainly looked something like his best in his substitute appearance against Genoa, his first match upon returning to fitness.

However, the Frenchman has not followed that up with similar quality in subsequent starts.

Thuram had started against Bologna in Serie A and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

But the Inter striker failed to score or assist a goal in those matches.

And it was a similar story yesterday against Napoli.

The problem was a lack of real precision in the penalty area from Thuram.

The 26-year-old also asked for a penalty on a couple occasions. But in truth, these were very optimistic appeals on Thuram’s part.
