The Lega Serie A has confirmed that the next derby between Inter Milan & AC Milan will be rescheduled to Monday, April 22nd.

The league has confirmed all of the dates for the upcoming fixtures, including a change to the derby, via FCInterNews.

Next month, Inter and Milan will play out the second derby of the season.

The two teams previously met in September. The Nerazzurri won that match by a 5-1 scoreline, their fifth consecutive derby victory over their city rivals.

The first meeting was nominally an Inter home fixture.

And next month’s match will nominally be a Milan home match at the San Siro.

Confirmed – Inter Vs AC Milan Derby Rescheduled To April 22nd

Initially, next month’s derby had been set to be played on April 21st.

The kickoff for the match would have been the late slot on Sunday evening.

That is when the derby is played more often than not. The late Sunday kickoff is typically reserved for the most high-profile match of the weekend.

And matches in Italian football do not come much more high-profile than derby clashes between Inter and Milan.

However, the Rossoneri requested a change to the schedule.

The reason for this was the team’s European commitments earlier in the month.

Whilst Inter crashed out of the Champions League from the round of sixteen stage, their city rivals progressed to the quarterfinals of the Europa League.

Their, Milan will take on Serie A rivals Roma.

The two legs of that tie will take place on Thursday, April 11th, and Thursday, April 18th.

Therefore, the Sunday that the derby was initially scheduled to be played was just three days after that second leg.

Considering that Milan could potentially be going to extra time in the second leg against Roma, they would aim for more time to rest and prepare for the derby.

Inter had no objections to this request to change the date for the fixture. So the Lega Serie A has accepted the Rossoneri’s request.
