Canadian international wingback Tajon Buchanan feels that he is capable of having his say as an Inter Milan player.

The 25-year-old spoke to Canadian outlet OneSoccer, also giving his thoughts on Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi, and the team’s elimination from the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.

Buchanan joined Inter during the January transfer window.

The Canadian made the move from Belgian club Club Burgge.

In doing so, Buchanan did not just become the first ever Canadian international to play for Inter. He became the first Canadian to play in Serie A at all.

So far, Buchanan has only made a handful of appearances for the Nerazzurri.

All of these have come off the bench.

But there is no doubt that Inter have faith that the 25-year-old can have an important role in the team.

Buchanan had been a target for Inter for more than a year before the Nerazzurri finally made a deal to sign the Canadian. And they invested a significant transfer fee in order to bring him in.

Tajon Buchanan: Can Make A Difference At Inter Milan

Of the elimination from the Champions League, Buchanan said that “It was a tough environment.”

“They’re a great team,” he said of Atletico.

“And then we were in great form as well,” the Canadian noted. Inter had won thirteen matches in a row going into the second leg in Madrid.

“They had the twelfth man from the crowd,” Buchanan noted.

“And it was tough to go out on penalties, but we still have to be proud.”

Of playing under Simone Inzaghi, Buchanan said that “He’s very competitive. He wants to win every game.”

“He’s very clear in explaining what he wants us to do on the pitch,” the 25-year-old added.

“I’m trying to learn, and then show it on the pitch when I’m called upon,” Buchanan said.

Buchanan said of playing for Inter that “I’m playing with some of the best players.”

“We’re playing really good football and and are one of the best team in the world right now.”

“Training at this level has been a step up from when I was at Brugge.”

“Every day you have to be at your best,” Buchanan said.

Buchanan said that “I feel like I can make a difference in Serie A, but it will take time.”

“I work hard every day, and I’ll show that when I’m given an opportunity.”

Buchanan also noted that Denzel Dumfries has been a player who he’s particularly learned from at Inter.

“All the wingbacks have been helping me a lot,” he said.

“Dumfries, obviously, he’s been doing it for many years now. And so learn from what he’s been doing has been very helpful for me.”
