Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson is ready to turn down moves to Juventus and Spurs, as he is prioritizing an Inter Milan move.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the Nerazzurri could offer Genoa Valentin Carboni plus cash for Gudmundsson.

Gudmundsson is a player whose star has been rising steadily in the past twelve months or so.

The Icelander joined Genoa in January of 2022. However, he was not able to prevent the Grifone from suffering relegation to Serie B in his first season at the club.

Last campaign, Gudmundsson helped Genoa to come straight back up to Serie A.

And back in the top flight, the former AZ Alkmaar forward has thrived.

Gudmundsson has been one of the outstanding players from outside of Serie A’s biggest clubs. The 26-year-old has bagged ten goals and three assists so far this season.

Moreover, Gudmundsson has brought far more than just goals and assists to the team.

The Icelander’s versatility has been a key asset for Genoa.

Gudmundsson can play anywhere from central midfield to as a striker. Inter saw this firsthand as the 26-year-old played both roles effectively in a recent Serie A match.

Meanwhile, Gudmundsson has also been impressing for his country recently.

The Genoa forward had a starring role as Iceland beat Iceland 4-1 in a Euro 2024 qualifying match on Thursday. Gudmundsson’s hat-trick proved to be the difference in that match.

Gudmundsson Says No To Juventus & Spurs – Wants Inter Move

It is therefore hardly surprising that Gudmundsson is attracting transfer interest from some top European clubs.

The Gazzetta name Inter, Juventus, and Tottenham Hotspur as the three with the strongest interest in the 26-year-old.

And Gudmundsson has a clear preference, the newspaper anticipate.

The Icelander already turned down the idea of a transfer to Fiorentina in January. He sensed the possibility of a bigger move, and has been thinking about his future.

And the Gazzetta report that Gudmundsson sees Inter as the ideal destination for him to take his next step.

According to the newspaper, the 26-year-old is prepared to reject Juventus and Spurs to make the move to the Nerazzurri.

Genoa will want at least 30 million for Gudmundsson.

But Inter could hope to lower that valuation somewhat by including young attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni as part of the deal.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, Inter could structure a deal for Gudmundsson similarly to the one that saw them sign Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo last summer.

Frattesi initially arrived at Inter on loan. But that deal contained a purchase obligation.

Inter could work something similar out with Genoa for Gudmundsson, in order to spread the fee for the player out.
