Michele Di Gregorio keeps the door open on a return to Inter Milan in the future, but prefers to focus on Monza in the time being.

The 26-year-old started his career with the Nerazzurri’s youth ranks. After undergoing several loan spells, he finally found his niche at Monza.

He first joined the Biancorossi on loan in 2020 before making the switch permanent in 2022.

The Italian then went on to establish himself as one of the most robust goalkeepers in the Italian top flight.

Hence, fans and observers alike are tipping Di Gregorio to join a bigger club sooner rather than later.

Naturally, a return to Inter has been rumored, and the custodian himself would be enticed by the notion, albeit he remains focused on his current employers.

“I like to think about the present day without looking too far ahead because otherwise you might get lost,” said the shot-stopper in his interview with La Stampa via FcInterNews.

“I want to concentrate on Monza for the two remaining months of the season.

“Then, after the last day of the campaign, we’ll see what concrete possibilities will emerge.

“I feel great in Monza, I don’t need to escape. But if an opportunity to make a career stepover arises, we’ll evaluate it.

“I never thought I’d reach this high when I joined Inter as a child.”

This season, Di Gregorio has made 26 Serie A appearances thus far. He has conceded 23 goals in the process while registering an impressive 13 clean sheets.

The goalkeeper’s contract with Monza runs until the summer of 2027.
