Inter Milan goalkeeper Emil Audero feels that it was important for the team to get back to winning ways right after the international break.

Inter got their Serie A title charge right back on track against Empoli yesterday.

The Nerazzurri had stumbled slightly in their last match in the league before the break. They let a 1-0 lead slip against Napoli, drawing 2-0.

Moreover, that match against the reigning Italian champions had followed the bitter disappointment of a round of sixteen exit from the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.

Even with Inter’s sizable lead at the top of the Serie A table, the last thing that the team needed was any hint of slip-up.

Inter Keeper Emil Audero: Important To Get Back To Winning Ways Immediately

Goalkeeper Audero made his second Serie A start for Inter in yesterday’s match.

The Italian filled in for Yann Sommer, who had just come back from an injury.

Audero said that “It was a match that was perhaps a little trickier than we’d expected.”

“Particularly in the first half, where they caused some problems for us.”

“The fact that we got a clean sheet makes me even happier,” Audero said.

The keeper added that “What mattered was getting back to winning ways immediately after the draw against Napoli.”

“We wanted to take three points and send a clear message,” Audero made clear.

“It’s lucky that we all have teammates like this. No matter who plays, the result is the same.”

The 27-year-old reflected that “That’s the strength of this group. No matter who’s out there always wants to give their best, and put their signature on the result.”
