Legendary former Rossoneri coach Arrigo Sacchi is expecting “courage” from AC Milan against Inter Milan in the derby this month.

Sacchi spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

Later this month, Inter and Milan will face off in the second Serie A derby of the season.

Unlike in the last couple seasons, where the city rivals have met nine times in total across various competitions, this time around there will just be two league meetings.

The Nerazzurri won the first encounter between the city rivals 5-1 in September.

But that hardly means any thing headed into the second derby of the campaign.

The derby is always a match where the form book gets ripped up.

And no matter what is at stake in terms of trophies, the two teams are always highly motivated.

This season, Inter face the tantalizing prospect of clinching the Serie A title with a result against the Rossoneri.

Milan, meanwhile, will certainly want to delay the Nerazzurri’s celebrations. And they themselves have second place in the table to think about.

Arrigo Sacchi: AC Milan Will Have “Courage” Vs Inter

Sacchi said that “In Milan, you can already feel the derby in the air.”

“There’s no point denying it,” the former coach continued. “Inter feel that they have the Scudetto in their back pocket.”

“And objectively speaking, you can hardly blame them for that.”

“The fact that they could clinch the title in this huge match against Milan gives even more energy to the fans,” Sacchi observed.

The former coach argued that “The Rossoneri fans, however, have shown that they’re not afraid. Considering that they’ve exercised the right of first refusal on all the tickets.”

“The Diavolo fans in the audience aren’t going to fail to support Pioli’s team,” Sacchi anticipated. “In one of the key matches of the season.”

“In doing this, they show that they’re confident and courageous.”

“Just as the Milan players have to be,” Sacchi said. “And I’m convinced they will be.”
