Empoli are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Inter Milan loaned-out goalkeeper Filip Stankovic.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Sampdoria. He immediately cemented himself as a starter in Andrea Pirlo’s lineup.

The Serbian has thus far made 30 Serie B appearances. He conceded 40 goals in the process and registered five clean sheets.

The Ligurians have the right to buy the young custodian at the end of the season in case they manage to secure promotion to Serie A.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri have inserted a buy-back clause for 5 million euros.

But in the meantime, Stankovic has attracted the interest of Empoli, reveals La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

The Tuscans sold Italy international Guglielmo Vicario to Tottenham Hotspur last summer. They have been relying on Elia Caprile between the sticks this season.

However, the 22-year-old will return to Napoli in the summer once his loan spell expires.

Hence, the Azzurri have identified Stankovic as the right profile to protect their goal next season.

Empoli Looking To Sign Inter Milan Goalkeeper Filip Stankovic In The Summer

This move should suit Inter who would like to see the shot-stopper gain experience in Serie A.

This will of course depend on whether or not Empoli manage to avoid relegation to Serie B. The club currently sits 18th in the Serie A standings with 25 points after 30 rounds.

Nevertheless, the Tuscan club will be looking to rely on the good rapport with the Inter management to strike a deal for Stankovic.

The goalkeeper is the son of Nerazzurri legend and Treble winner Dejan Stankovic. His younger brother Aleksandar is the captain of Inter’s Primavera squad.
