No risks will be taken with the fitness of Alessandro Bastoni in Inter Milan’s Serie A clash with Udinese.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that there are three players who could potentially take Bastoni’s place on the left of the defense.

Yesterday, Bastoni picked up a slight muscle knock.

The problem is a strain to the former Parma and Atalanta defender’s thigh flexor.

Bastoni’s injury is not a serious one. And in fact, he should likely be able to return to training in the next day or two.

However, that does not mean that the 24-year-old will necessarily be ready to be in action in Monday evening’s Serie A match away to Udinese.

Alessandro Bastoni Won’t Be Risked For Inter Vs Udinese – Three Possible Replacements

The Gazzetta report that, while the injury is not at all serious for Bastoni, the priority will be to not take any risks with the Italian international’s fitness.

Therefore, it is not certain that Bastoni will even be part of Inter’s squad for Monday’s match.

And, if the 24-year-old is, he still will not start the match.

Fortunately for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, there are several options in the squad to cover for Bastoni.

The Gazzetta report that the coach is considering three possibilities.

One would be to start Francesco Acerbi on the left of the defense. The 36-year-old started in the central position against Empoli last Monday – but he can cover on the left as well.

With Stefan de Vrij back fit and capable of covering in the centre of the back three, Acerbi can shift over.

Alternatively, Carlos Augusto is also capable of playing on the left of defense.

Therefore, the Brazilian could start in that position rather than on the wing against Udinese.

Lastly, the Gazzetta report, 23-year-old German youth international Yann Bisseck could start on the left of the back three.
