Former Inter Milan midfielder Stephane Dalamat feels that Joaquin Correa should attempt to revive his career at a Serie A club.

Dalmat spoke to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The Frenchman suggested that Correa “could still surprise us” as well as giving his thoughts on the prospect of Inter clinching the Serie A title in the derby.

Correa’s season at Marseille has gone more or less the same way that the two he spent playing for Inter did. If not worse.

The 29-year-old joined the Ligue 1 club on loan towards the end of last summer transfer window.

Inter were more than happy to allow Correa to leave. The former Lazio and Sevilla forward had never really shown the same form for the Nerazzurri as he had for the Biancocelesti.

And Correa hoped to revive his career in France.

However, that is not how things have gone. The Argentine has not made an impact, yet to score a goal in any competition this season.

Dalmat: Correa “Could Still Surprise Us” At A Serie A Club

Marseille have an option to sign Correa on a permanent basis.

That option would become mandatory in the event that the Ligue 1 side are to qualify for the Champions League.

However, based on the current league table in the French top flight, that looks unlikely.

Therefore, Marseille are hardly likely to sign Correa permanently if they do not qualify for Europe’s top club competition.

This means that Inter may have to sort out Correa’s future in the summer.

That is not something that the Nerazzurri would have hoped to be the case.

And it is obviously not as though Inter would want to have Correa in their squad next season.

In the view of former midfielder Dalmat, though, there is one route that could see the Argentine finally regain his best form.

The former midfielder observed of Correa that “He never plays at Marseille.”

“And when he does, he’s dreadful,” Dalmat added.

“If the team qualify for the Champions League, they’ll be obligated to pay Inter 10 million for him.”

“When I point that out, a lot of Marseille fans say that it would be better if they don’t qualify for the Champions League!” Dalmat joked.

“So Correa will probably be back at Inter,” he said. “And then we’ll see what happens.”

“I believe that if he goes to an Italian team that put their faith in him, he could still surprise him” the former midfielder said of Correa.

Meanwhile, of the idea of clinching the Serie A title against AC Milan, Dalmat said that “It’d be great.”

“First, though, they have to win the next two matches.”

“Then, if they make the Tricolore official against the Rossoneri, that would be extraordinary.”

“Otherwise, we’ll just have to wait a bit longer. For me, it’s almost done. The most important thing is to get the second star one way or another.”
