Inter Milan are “closing in on” the signing of Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, with Spurs also targeting the 26-year-old.

This according to UK-based news outlet Caught Offside. The outlet reports that the Nerazzurri have secured Gudmundsson’s agreement on a move, but must now find an agreement with his club.

Gudmundsson is a player whose form this season has certainly attracted transfer attention.

The Icelandic international has been a talismanic player for Genoa. He has scored eleven goals and assisted a further three to help the Ligurian club secure a solid foothold in the Serie A midtable in their first season back.

However, this means that Gudmundsson is looking increasingly unlikely to be a Genoa player past the end of the current season.

As Caught Offside report, the Icelander is attracting transfer interest both in Serie A and also the Premier League.

Inter “Close In On” Albert Gudmundsson With Spurs Also Keen

Caught Offside report that the English club with the strongest interest in Gudmundsson is Tottenham Hotspur.

The London side consider the 26-year-old to be a backup target to Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

However, the UK outlet report, Spurs face significant competition to sign Gudmundsson from Inter in particular.

The outlet anticipate that the Nerazzurri have already taken big steps towards signing the former AZ Alkmaar forward.

Gudmundsson has already agreed to join Inter during the summer transfer window.

However, Caught Offside report, the Nerazzurri still have not secured an agreement with Genoa.

Naturally, the Grifone will want a significant fee for a player in the form that Gudmundsson has been in.

But Inter could aim to lower the cash fee for Gudmundsson by also sending a player to Genoa as part of a deal for the Icelander.

And Caught Offside report that there is one player in particular who is of interest to the Grifone.

The outlet anticipate that the Ligurian club could aim to sign Inter wingback Mattia Zanotti.

Zanotti is currently on loan with Swiss side St. Gallen.

And Genoa are looking to strengthen at right-wingback. The Ligurians signed Djed Spence on loan from Spurs in January – but the Englishman has not convinced.

Therefore, Zanotti could be the player who is key to unlocking a deal for Inter to sign Gudmundsson.
