Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali admits missing Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi more than any other former player at the moment.

The Neroverdi are enduring a torrid campaign, as they currently find themselves 19th in the Serie A table. They only managed to collect 25 points in 31 rounds.

Throughout the years, the Emilians have made a habit of selling some of their finest jewels for major profits. The list includes the likes of Manuel Locatelli, Jeremie Boga, Gianluca Scamacca and Giacomo Raspadori.

But if Carnevali could bring one player back to the club amidst the current crisis, he would have picked Frattesi.

“If I could choose only one player to return for the season finale, it would be Davide Frattesi,” said the Sassuolo CEO in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“I love him. He has a crazy spirit. We miss him a lot, more than anyone else on and off the pitch.”

The Italy international joined the Nerazzurri on loan last summer with an obligation to buy. The midfielder’s move will become permanent at the end of the season.

Frattesi has yet to carve himself a regular starting spot at Inter. Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi still prefers Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the box-to-box roles.

Nevertheless, the 24-year-old has presented himself as a genuine super-sub. Despite his lack of starting appearances, he has already scored seven goals and provided five assists, mostly while coming off the bench.

His exploits include two injury-time winners against Hellas Verona in January and Udinese in the club’s most recent outing.
