Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti previews the club’s upcoming match against Cagliari, whom he describes as a dangerous opponent.

The Nerazzurri are closing in on what appears to be an imminent Scudetto triumph. They currently sit on top of the table, 14 points ahead of AC Milan in second place.

Therefore, a victory over their crosstown rivals in the Derby della Madonnina on April 22nd could seal the deal.

Nevertheless, Moratti urges Simone Inzaghi’s men not to look past their next opponents Cagliari.

Inter will host the Isolani this Sunday at San Siro, and the former club owner expects it to be a difficult match for the Nerazzurri.

“Well, between the two teams the one that has a real and urgent need for points is Cagliari,” said the 78-year-old in his interview with TuttoCagliari via FcInterNews.

“Inter have more than anything else a whim to satisfy. That of winning the title in the Derby against Milan.

“However, the motivation of the Rossoblù, which is avoiding relegation, is certainly much more important.

“For this reason, I believe that Cagliari will play a very serious match and, consequently, will constitute a real danger for Inter.”

Massimo Moratti Believes Cagliari Will Be A Tough Test For Inter Milan

Simone Inzaghi will be without Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard who will be serving one-match bans. Nevertheless, Moratti feels Inter have enough depth to make up for these absences.

“Inter have a well-established and tested playing mechanism, which works regardless of individuals.

“On the other hand, Cagliari has the absolute need to survive. In their last match, they proved they have the tools to accomplish great feats.

“I hope that the Rossoblù find the strength to approach the match with confidence and optimism.

“What is certain is that Inter remains a formidable and difficult opponent to face.”

Cagliari currently sit 13th in the Serie A table, four points above the relegation zone following their shocking win over Atalanta last weekend.
