Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi admits that the Serie A title is in sight, and that he hopes the team can clinch it against AC Milan.

Inzaghi spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, following the Nerazzurri’s Serie A draw against Cagliari.

Inzaghi has naturally been a bit reticent to talk too much about winning the Serie A title.

After all, even with Inter clearly the big favourites to do so for several weeks now, there would be little reason to become complacent, take anything for granted, or tempt fate.

But now, it truly looks to be a matter of “when” rather than “if” Inter lift the title.

And this weekend’s results confirm that Inter could very well do it in their next match.

And the next fixture is a very big one for the Nerazzurri. They face city rivals AC Milan in the derby.

The Rossoneri drew their match against Sassuolo today. But Inter were unable to capitalize – they too drew against a team in the bottom half of the table.

Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi: Hope To Clinch Serie A Title Vs AC Milan

Looking ahead to the derby, Inzaghi said that “We’ll prepare for it starting from Wednesday.”

“We’ve played a lot of derbies in the last couple seasons,” the Inter coach noted.

“We’ll prepare for it in the best way possible.”

Inzaghi noted that against Milan, “We’ll be up against a team in good form, on a good run in the league.”

“And as with all derbies it’ll be difficult. We’ll have to play well.”

And of the draw against Cagliari, Inzaghi said that “We wanted to win it. But we were up against an opponent who caused problems for us.”

“They travelled to Milan and played an excellent match,” the Inter coach noted.

“Considering we went ahead twice, we wanted to win it.”

“But it’s ok,” Inzaghi said. “We have a large advantage at the top.”

“We’re close to reaching the finish line,” the Nerazzurri coach said. “And we hope that we can cross it next Monday.”
