Andrea Colombo has been appointed to referee Monday’s Serie A derby between AC Milan and Inter Milan.

This is confirmed by the Lega Serie A’s announcement of the entire list of officials for the round of fixtures, via FCInterNews. Valerio Marini will be on VAR for the fixture.

Next Monday, Inter and AC Milan will meet in the second derby of the season.

Unlike the previous two seasons, in which the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri met nine times over the course of multiple competitions in total, there have just been two this time around.

Inter won the first derby of the season. They did so by an emphatic 5-1 scoreline, and it was their fifth derby win in a row.

However, that certainly does not mean that the Nerazzurri will be taking anything for granted in the second meeting of the season with their city rivals.

Milan are also in great form at the moment.

And moreover, the derby is always an unpredictable match. The form book often gets ripped up in meetings between the two city rivals.

If, however, Inter can beat Milan, the reward will be enormous.

The Nerazzurri have the chance to clinch the Serie A title with a win in the derby. That would be the first time that either side has confirmed their status as champions in the fixture.

The referee for Monday’s match will be Andrea Colombo.

Assisting Sozza in his duties will be Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio.

The role of the fourth official, meanwhile, will fall to Davide Massa.

In the VAR booth, Valerio Marini will oversee the match to ensure to correct any errors by the on-pitch officials.

Assisting Marini in his duties will be Maurizio Mariani.

Inter will be hoping that the focus stays on the action on the pitch rather than refereeing controversy.
