A report in the Italian press pours cold water on the links between Inter Milan and Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Valentini.

In recent days, the 23-year-old emerged as a transfer target for the Nerazzurri, at least according to some news sources in Italy.

The cenre-back’s contract with the Buenos Aires club will expire in December, leaving his future in jeopardy.

The player has thus far refused the club’s renewal offers. Therefore, Boca opted to drop him from the matchday squad. Valentini watched his teammates beat Godoy Cruz from the stands.

Hence, the Argentine giants might have to sell the player in the summer or lose his services for free in December.

But according to FcInterNews, the Serie A runaway leaders do not consider Valentini as a genuine transfer target.

Inter legend Walter Samuel reportedly recommended the young Argentine. However, there haven’t been any concrete negotiations between the two parties thus far.

Moreover, the source adds that despite the current standoff, Valentini could still end up signing a new contract with Boca.

So despite being dropped out of the squad, Valentini could linger at La Bombonera. However, there remains a considerable gap between the parties in their negotiations.

In the meantime, several European sides have been keeping tabs on the situation. Nevertheless, none has thus far launched a concrete onslaught.

This season, Valentini has made nine appearances across all competitions, contributing with a single goal.

Last month, he received a call-up for the senior Argentine national team. While he was on the bench in the friendly against Costa Rica, he has yet to make his international debut.
