Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin expects that Inter Milan will “give everything” to win the derby against city rivals AC Milan.

The journalist spoke to Italian broadcaster TVPlay, via FCInter1908, ahead of Monday’s derby.

Strictly speaking, a failure to win on Monday wouldn’t be too damaging for Inter.

The Nerazzurri would not clinch the Serie A title in that case. However, they would still be able to do so in any of their other remaining matches of the season.

But there is a kind of symbolism at hand for both Inter and Milan in this edition of the derby.

Both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have essentially nothing else left to play for.

Inter and Milan both went out of the Coppa Italia early on.

And both of the pair are also out of Europe – Inter exited the Champions League to Atletico Madrid, whilst Milan were eliminated from the Champions League by Roma.

Inter Will “Give Everything” To Win Derby Vs AC Milan

There is still the derby to come, however.

From an Inter perspective, Monday’s match represents an opportunity to clinch the title in a Milan derby, something neither they nor their city rivals have ever done historically.

And then for Milan, the motivation will be to stop Inter from doing so.

Journalist Biasin said that “For me, Inter will give everything to be able to celebrate the Scudetto in the derby on Monday evening.”

“There’s no doubt about that.”

At the moment, Inter are fourteen points ahead of city rivals Milan at the top of the table.

That means that, at the moment, the Rossoneri could theoretically catch them over the remaining matches of the season.

But with a win on Monday, Inter would go seventeen points clear.

And with just fifteen points on offer afterwards, Milan would not be able to catch them.
