Matteo Darmian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be among the first-choice Inter Milan starting eleven in the derby against AC Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is naturally ready to play his strongest possible lineup on Monday.

The derby is, for all intents and purposes, Inter’s biggest match remaining this season.

The Nerazzurri have the chance to clinch the Serie A with five matches to go. That would be the first time either they or Milan have done so in a derby match.

Then there is the fact that the derby is always a hugely significant fixture for Inter and the Rossoneri.

As such, it is not as though Inzaghi will be giving any thought to squad rotation, or to bedding in any players for next season like Tajon Buchanan.

Darmian & Mkhitaryan Among First-Choice Inter Starting XI Vs AC Milanm

Inter’s starting eleven has looked relatively settled throughout the season so far.

Both captain Lautaro Martinez and defender Benjamin Pavard are back available.

That duo had missed out on Inter’s Serie A match against Cagliari last Sunday due to suspension. However, they are back, and will certainly take the places of Alexis Sanchez and Yann Bisseck respectively.

Elsewhere on the pitch, the Gazzetta report that it will be Matteo Darmian who starts at right-wingback.

The 34-year-old former Manchester United defender will get the nod over Denzel Dumfries.

Then, in midfield it will be another former Man United player – Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The 35-year-old avoided a yellow card against Cagliari last weekend – which would have meant a suspension tomorrow.

In goal, meanwhile, Yann Sommer will be the second player – along with Pavard – who joined Inter from Bayern Munich last summer.
