Hundreds of fans of Inter Milan have descended upon the club’s training ground as the anticipation grows for the Serie A title.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper reports that the Nerazzurri’s supporters are throwing their support behind the players enthusiastically.
Inter have yet to confirm their status as champions of Serie A for this season.
The sense has been that it is a “when” rather than an “if” the Nerazzurri do so for the campaign for weeks. But nothing is official yet.
However, the team have the chance to clinch the title in quite remarkable circumstances.
Inter could secure the title with a win in tomorrow’s derby against city rivals AC Milan. That would be the first time that either the Nerazzurri or the Rossoneri have done so.
The motivation is certainly there for Inter, who have little else left to fight for.
And conversely, the Rossoneri are also very much fired up to prevent Inter from doing so.
Even if the outcome of the “title race” is a foregone conclusion, delaying Inter’s celebrations by at least one week would feel like a small vindication for the Nerazzurri’s city rivals.
