Inter Milan Sporting Director Piero Ausilio feels that Steven Zhang does a “fantastic” job as Nerazzurri President.

The Sporting Director spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInter1908. He gave his thoughts on working under Zhang after doing so under Massimo Moratti.

Ausilio has been at Inter for many years.

The 51-year-old has become easily one of the most important people behind the scenes at the club.

Ausilio has arguably never had more influence at Inter than he does.

The Sporting Director works in tandem with CEO Beppe Marotta to form the club’s transfer strategy. He has a hugely important role in scouting and recruiting players.

Marotta and Ausilio have been key figures at Inter during the Presidency of Steven Zhang.

It is Zhang who brought Marotta in after he departed Juventus.

And the President has put his faith in Ausilio to have a very big say in the transfer decisions.

Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio Praises President Steven Zhang

Ausilio said that “It’s crazy. I’ve been here for so many years and Inter have won a lot of big trophies – but what we’ve done this time around is indescribable.”

“Maybe the fact that we won the title during COVID before, without being able to celebrate it properly, repressed something that exploded today,” he said of Inter’s title celebrations.

Ausilio said that “Working under Moratti and Zhang is different.”

“I owe my entire career to the Moratti family,” he noted.

“I grew working in the youth sector, very closely with [former Inter Sporting Director Marco] Branca.”

“What I saw at that time helped me to learn.”

“I was close with some top coaches, and top directors,” Ausilio looked back.

He said that working under Moratti, “I got experience from a fantastic President. And now I’m making that available under Steven Zhang.”

“He’s also a fantastic President,” Ausilio said of Zhang. “He’s different, but also fantastic.”
