Former Nerazzurri midfielder Youri Djorkaeff believes that Marcus Thuram will become a real fan favourite at Inter Milan.

The former France international spoke to French broadcaster Telefoot, via FCInterNews.

Thuram has not yet been an Inter player for twelve months.

The Frenchman made the switch to the Nerazzurri last summer, on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

But it would be fair to say that Thuram has made an impact in his first season at Inter.

The 26-year-old has slotted into the team seamlessly. He has formed an extremely effective strike partnership with Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.

Thuram has both scored and assisted goals prolifically.

Moreover, when the Frenchman has gotten on the scoresheet, it has generally been with big goals.

Thuram scored key winners against the likes of Benfica and Roma in his first season with the Nerazzurri. He also scored in both derbies against AC Milan that he’s played in so far.

Then, there is a lot more than just goals and assists with Thuram provides Inter.

The Frenchman’s dribbling ability, pace, and smart positioning have been key for the Nerazzurri’s entire attack.

Djorkaeff: “Marcus Thuram To Become Inter Fan Favourite”

Former Inter and France midfielder Djorkaeff had words of praise for Thuram.

“Marcus will carve out a special place for himself in the hearts of Inter fans,” he predicted.

“And of football fans all through Italy.”

Djorkaeff compared Thuram to a current AC Milan and former Chelsea and Arsenal striker. “He has an ability to bring his teammates into play, like Olivier Giroud,” he said.

“Today, the striker for the French international team has to have that quality of bringing players who come from deeper like Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe into play.”

Thuram is vying to be Les Bleus’ starting striker at the Euros this summer.
