Sassuolo are the ultimate “bogey team” for Inter Milan in Serie A.

The Neroverdi have seemingly always managed to get a result against the Neroverdi when it’s seemed most improbable.

That was certainly the case in yesterday’s Serie A clash at the Mapei Stadium.

Going into the match, Inter had gone unbeaten in 28 matches in Serie A – their last loss was against none other than the Neroverdi.

And Sassuolo have been on a miserable run of form in the league that’s seen them slip into the relegation places.

Before kickoff, the Emilian team were nineteenth in the table.

But Sassuolo defied the form table. They snatched a 1-0 victory against the team who have already been crowned champions.

That will certainly come as a big boost to the Neroverdi’s bid to stay in Serie A.

Stats account Opta noted one particular statistic that shows how much of a bogey team Sassuolo are for Inter.

They Tweeted, “Inter have lost a match against a team in the bottom two positions of the standings at the start of a matchday in Serie A for the first time since 1st November 2014 (0-2 vs Parma) under Mazzarri. Particular.”
