Inter Milan do not consider Udinese defender Jaka Bijol to be a serious target.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908. The outlet anticipate that the Nerazzurri are tracking a number of other defenders ahead of the 25-year-old despite recent links.

Recent reports have indicated that Inter are keeping tabs on Udinese defender Bijol.

The rumours suggest that the Nerazzurri see the Slovenian international as an attainable target.

And there is a fair bit of logic behind the links.

Bijol is a tall, physical defender who has experience playing in the middle of a back three.

In that respect, the Udinese defender would make for a stylistically similar backup to the likes of Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi, potentially with a view to replacing the veteran duo in the long term.

Moreover, apart from his profile, there is the fact that Bijol has experience playing in Serie A with the Friulani.

And Bijol would hardly be a hugely expensive signing. Compared to the 40 million that it would reportedly take to sign Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino, the fee for the Slovenian would be comparatively modest.

Particularly in the event that Udinese – who are currently in the bottom three – were to be relegated from Serie A.

Therefore, were Inter to want to invest relatively little in reinforcing their defense, Bijol could be on their radar.

Inter Do Not Consider Udinese Defender Jaka Bijol A Serious Target

With all of that being said, however, FCIN1908 report that Inter don’t consider Bijol to be a particularly serious target.

The Nerazzurri are aware of the potential availability of the Slovenian.

However, Bijol is not close to the top of Inter’s shortlist of defensive targets.

It’s true that the Nerazzurri are planning to make a defensive signing this summer.

Given that both de Vrij and Acerbi are well into their thirties, there is a sense that there needs to be a succession plan in place.

Moreover, Inter want a deeper squad for next season. That is in view of the more demanding fixture list with expansions to the Champions League and Club World Cup.

However, FCIN1908 report, Bijol is not a name who Inter are particularly keen to reinforce their backline.
