Legendary former Inter Milan goalkeeper Ivano Bordon is a big fan of the consistency Yann Sommer has brought to the Nerazzurri goal.

Bordon spoke to Italian news outlet SportPage.it. He noted that Sommer has only made two major errors in his first season at Inter.

This season, Sommer has taken over the role of starting keeper at Inter with authority.

There was a fair bit of pressure on the Swiss international’s shoulders.

Inter took a gamble by selling Andre Onana – who had been one of the Nerazzurri’s key players on their run to the Champions League final – and signing a veteran to replace him.

But it has been precisely Sommer’s veteran experience that has made the 35-year-old work out well in his new role.

Sommer has won the Serie A title, his second league title in two different countries.

The Swiss international’s shot-stopping has had an important role to play in Inter’s defense being the best in Serie A this season.

The Nerazzurri have conceded the fewest goals in the Italian top flight. They have also kept the most clean sheets.

Ivano Bordon Full Of Praise For Yann Sommer: “Only Two Errors This Season”

There have been a couple of bad moments from Sommer, such as his poor attempt at a save on Sassuolo’s Nedim Bajrami in a Serie A loss during the autumn.

But by and large, Sommer’s saves have been consistent, and at times crucial for the Nerazzurri.

The former Bayern Munich keeper has more than been up to the task with his shot-stopping ability.

Legendary former Inter keeper Bordon said that “I expected Inter to have a great season like this.”

“Sommer quickly adapted,” the former Italian international noted.

“And he’s proven to be an experienced, and technically sound, goalkeeper.”

“He’s a keeper who keeps it simple with his feet,” Bordon noted of Sommer.

“And to me he only really made two errors. That’s very few.”
