Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will reportedly leave Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the bench against Frosinone for two reasons.

While some had expected the Armenian to lose his starting berth in favor of the young Davide Frattesi at the start of the season, it has been quite the opposite.

The 35-year-old has been an omnipresent figure in Inzaghi’s lineup this season. For instance, he has featured in all 35 Serie A fixtures thus far, including 34 as a starter.

Even when the coach opted to rotate his lineup and rest some key players, the former Arsenal star has always been the exception.

Nevertheless, tonight’s clash against Frosinone will reportedly be one of those rare occasions where Mkhitaryan doesn’t start.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Inzaghi will drop the veteran midfielder for two reasons.

First, the manager decided to hand the Armenian some well-deserved rest while giving the opportunity to others.

Second, Mkhitaryan is only one booking away from receiving a one-match ban. Therefore, Inzaghi would like to avoid the risk of losing his stalwart’s services for the following clash against Lazio.

Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Doesn’t Want To Risk Henrikh Mkhitaryan Vs Frosinone

That encounter will be followed by the title ceremony, so the Nerazzurri will be hoping to celebrate with a win over the capital side.

Hence, the Turin-based newspaper expects Nicolo Barella to slide to the left side to replace Mkhitaryan tonight. This means that Frattesi will get the nod on the right side of the midfield trio.

The source also tips first-choice wingbacks Federico Dimarco and Matteo Darmian to reclaim their starting berths. The Italian duo started on the bench against Sassuolo last weekend.

The same goes for Yann Sommer who will regain the starting gloves after making way for Emil Audero last time around.
