Out-of-favour Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa is among the big name players Como are targeting upon their return to Serie A.

This according to today’s print edition of Como-based newspaper La Provincia di Como, via FCInterNews, The newspaper anticipate that the Lombard team could also target former Inter captain Mauro Icardi.

Como will be back in Serie A for the first time in over two decades next season.

The Lariani won promotion to the top flight as runners-up in Serie B this campaign. They have not played in Serie A since being relegated in the 2002-03 season.

As part of their dream return to Serie A, Como will be thinking about strengthening for the step up in division.

Naturally, the Lombard side will aim to sign players with top flight experience across a number of positions on the pitch.

And there are a few big names that Como could target ambitious swoops for. Including one player who Inter would be more than happy to offload.

Inter Flop Joaquin Correa A Target For Newly-Promoted Como

La Provincia anticipate that 29-year-old Inter forward Correa is a target for Como.

The last few seasons have not exactly gone well for the Argentine, putting it mildly.

Correa signed for Inter from Lazio in the summer of 2021. However, he was never able to reproduce his best form from the Biancocelesti in a Nerazzurri shirt.

This led to Correa going out on loan to Marseille last summer.

However, this season at Marseille has been even more of a flop for the former Sampdoria and Sevilla forward than his time at Inter had been.

There is a purchase option for Marseille to sign Correa permanently.

However, there would certainly be no chance of the Ligue 1 giants activating it.

The purchase option would have become a mandatory obligation had Marseille qualified for the Champions League. But they have not done so.

Therefore, Correa will return to Inter. And the Nerazzurri will have to find a solution to the Argentine’s future.

One could present itself in the form of Serie A new boys Como, La Provincia report.

The newly-promoted club are looking for attacking quality, and they wouldn’t necessarily be afraid of Correa’s recent poor form.

Alternatively, La Provincia report, Como are also keen on former Inter and Paris Saint-Germain striker Icardi. The ex-Nerazzurri captain is currently at Galatasaray.

And in goal, current Inter backup keeper Emil Audero is on Como’s radar along with Loris Karius and Alessio Cragno.
