Former Bayern Munich and Italy striker Luca Toni believes that Juventus do not have a squad at the same level as Inter Milan’s,

The 2006 World Cup winner spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. He contrasted the Nerazzurri’s and Bianconeri’s respective groups of players.

Up until around the end of January, Inter and Juventus looked to be in a title race.

Both teams had found incredible consistency in the league. They largely matches one another week for week in terms of nearly always winning during that period.

And Inter have kept that sort of form up for the entire second half of the campaign.

The same cannot be said for Juventus. The Bianconeri’s form came to a screeching halt in the early spring.

A draw against Empoli was the first sign that something was wrong for Max Allegri.

Then at the start of February, one weekend after that match, Inter beat Juventus.

The scoreline was 1-0. But in truth, the match seemed to show a real gap in quality between the two teams.

It was a result which seemed to take any wind that had been remaining in the Bianconeri’s sails out of them.

Luca Toni: Juventus Squad Not At Level Of Inter

At one point, Inter had actually trailed Juventus in the table in January (albeit having a couple of games in hand on their Derby d’Italia rivals.)

Now the Nerazzurri are an astonishing 25 points ahead of Juventus.

It is actually Inter’s city rivals AC Milan who are the closest to them in the table – albeit still twenty points off.

Meanwhile, Juventus are currently level on points with Bologna.

Former Bianconeri and Fiornetina striker Toni said that “In my opinion, Juve started strong.”

Toni characterized the Bianconeri’s start to the season as “Above expectations. Because their squad is not at the level of Inter’s.”
