The agent of Lautaro Martinez reiterates the striker’s desire to remain at Inter Milan, but warns that his salary must be adjusted.

The Argentine guided the club towards the Serie A title in his first season as Nerazzurri captain.

The 26-year-old has a contract valid until 2026, but the club is eager to push back the deadline until 2029.

The two parties have been negotiating a contract extension for several months, but the white smoke has yet to emerge.

Nevertheless, they both insist that a final agreement isn’t far away.

This week, Inter’s ownership changed hands with Oaktree taking over from Suning who failed to repay their loan before the deadline.

However, Lautaro’s agent Alejandro Camano doesn’t believe this event will pose a problem for the renewal.

“Inter now have new ownership. So I guess they have to sort out their internal issues,” said the player’s representative in his interview with FcInterNews.

“We’ll catch up afterwards, as we always do. It’s a club I love, Lautaro feels 100% an integral part of it. He still has two years left on his contract, which means there are two years left to define the situation.

“At the moment, he is super happy with the current contract until 2026.

“Inter want to renew the deal. And we have already said yes, because Lautaro is very happy at the club.”

The Agent Of Lautaro Martinez Reiterates The Captain’s Desire To Stay At Inter Milan

Nevertheless, Camano insists the Inter captain deserves a higher salary, one that is worthy of his exploits on the pitch.

“Since the last renewal, Lautaro’s importance at the club grew further. His loyalty to Inter is absolute. He wants to stay and renew.

“But we will have to talk about what a player he has become today. We can compare him to Haaland and Mbappé, players of the highest international caliber.

“You know, in Italy, there are footballers who earn more and have done less. I will have to address all these issues with Inter when we see each other.

“We have not spoken to any club about a possible transfer, precisely because the lad wants to stay in Milan.”

“Lautaro has a deep and real love affair with the club and the Nerazzurri fans. But we are still talking about a professional agreement. So we will have to make a professional agreement.

“It is therefore essential to explain to people that Lautaro is available to find an agreement with the Nerazzurri, but not in any way. This has to be an accord that makes both Inter and Lautaro happy.”

But despite his diplomatic warnings, Camano reassures Inter supporters that Lautaro will remain at the club.

“The fans shouldn’t be worried, because they know that Lautaro loves Inter. Then, of course, the profession of a footballer is short. And Martinez’s situation must adapt to that of the market.

“In the meantime, he continues to ask me not to talk to any other club, because he wants to stay at Inter under the right conditions.

“Lauti is an honest person, he will do anything to stay in Milan. We are willing to come to the city as long as Inter want to try to find an agreement.

“We never thought about leaving. In fact, we would like to stay for life. I hope and believe it can be done.”
