Carlos Augusto feels that while he’d always like more playing time at Inter Milan, the collective is the most important thing.

The Brazilian spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 2-2 Serie A draw against Hellas Verona on the final day of the league season.

Augusto signed for Inter last summer. He came in from Monza.

Whereas at the Brianzoli the Brazilian had been one of the first names on the team sheet, at Inter he has not always started.

That does not mean that Augusto has lacked playing time. Not by any means.

Particularly after the 25-year-old emerged as a viable option playing in the back three, his versatility has meant that he has always been an option, either from the start or from the bench.

But at Inter, Augusto has the likes of Federico Dimarco and Alessandro Bastoni to compete for playing time with.

Therefore, it is not exactly surprising that the former Monza and Corinthians defender is not always in the starting eleven.

Nevertheless, Augusto’s consistency and versatility have meant that he has more than made his contribution over the course of the season.

And given that Inter have won the Serie A title, that is the most important thing.

Carlos Augusto: “I’d Like More Playing Time, But The Most Important Thing Is Inter”

Augusto commented that “The most important thing is the season of the collective.”

“Clearly I’d have liked to play more matches,” the 25-year-old admitted.

“And to get more goals and assists.”

“But in the end we won the Scudetto,” Augusto added. “And that’s the most important thing.”

“When I arrived here I found a great group, and great coaching staff,” Augusto continued. “We managed to win and we did a good job.”

And of his relationship with teammate Davide Frattesi, Augusto noted that “We played together at Monza. But I didn’t speak Italian yet.”

“We’re the same age,” he said of midfielder Frattesi, who also signed for Inter last summer.

“We’ve become true friends. The same with Asllani and Bisseck. We’re a fantastic group.”

And Augusto also added that “We’ve Inter. In every season we play, we have to win.”

“We’re a strong group with a lot of quality,” the Brazilian added. “We’re ready for next season.”
