Legendary former Italy and Juventus coach Marcello Lippi is fully convinced that Inter Milan deserved the 2023-24 Serie A title.

The 2006 World Cup winner praised the Nerazzurri in an interview on Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter did not just win the 2023-24 Serie A title. They did so in dominant fashion.

The Nerazzurri finished the campaign a whopping nineteen points clear of the team second in the table, city rivals AC Milan.

Inter amassed 94 points – good enough for the fifth highest points total in the history of the Italian top flight adjusting for the three-points-for-a-win era.

There is even a sense that, had Inter not taken their foot off the gas in the final weeks of the season after securing the title, they could have finished with even more points.

Inter scored the most goals in Serie A. They also conceded the fewest.

Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez was the Italian top flight’s top scorer for the first time in his career. He bagged a total of 24 goals over the course of the campaign.

And keeper Yann Sommer kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the division.

Marcello Lippi: “Inter Milan Deserved The Serie A Title”

Former Azzurri boss Lippi gave the view that “Inter deserved the Scudetto.”

“The strongest team won,” he added.

And then Lippi also reacted to the news that former Inter, Juventus, Italy, and Chelsea coach Antonio Conte is set to take over at Napoli.

“Conte is the right man for any team,” the legendary former coach argued.

“Because he always manages to create a group that is compact and united.”

“One where everyone makes their qualities available to everyone else,” Lippi explained Conte’s strengths.

“That’s the aspect that is fundamental.”

Conte spent two years as Inter coach between 2019 and 2021. The 54-year-old reached the Europa League in his first season at the club, and then won the Serie A title in his second.
