Inter Milan could adopt a less rigid stance on the Denzel Dumfries saga as landing Dan Ndoye might not be an easy task.

Over the last few months, all accounts in the Italian media agreed that the Dutchman could only stay at the club by signing a contract extension.

The wingback’s current deal is only valid until June 2025. Therefore, the Nerazzurri wouldn’t want to run the risk of losing his services for free a year later.

Hence, the Italian champions have been searching the market for a replacement this summer.

Over the last few weeks, Ndoye has emerged as an unlikely primary candidate. The 23-year-old is an offensive winger who was part of Thiago Motta’s rampant Bologna side this season. He’s also a regular starter for Switzerland at Euro 2024.

But as Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews explains, Ndoye’s price tag is on the rise due to his positive displays at the European Championship.

Bologna are now reportedly requesting 25 million euros to part ways with the former FC Basel star. This would be a substantial windfall for the Emilians who signed the player for just 9 million only last summer.

Therefore, Inter are now considering keeping Dumfries for next season even without signing a new contract.

This would be a risky move for the Italian champions given the player’s expiring contract.

Nevertheless, Simone Inzaghi would like to maintain the services of his trusted right wingback, while the management isn’t willing to splash large figures on Ndoye.

The Netherlands international has been plying his trade at San Siro since making the move from PSV Eindhoven in 2021.
