Former striker Massimo Maccarone feels that Piotr Zielinski will be a “perfect signing” for Inter Milan next season.

The former Empoli and Middlesbrough striker spent two years as a teammate of Zielinski. He praised the Polish international’s technical quality and versatility, via FCInterNews.

Zielinski is set to sign for Inter on a free transfer from Napoli this summer.

The 30-year-old brings with him plenty of experience.

Zielinski played for the likes of Udinese and Empoli in Serie A before joining Napoli in 2016. Since then, he has spent eight years with the Partenopei.

Zielinski played under the likes of Maurizio Sarri, Carlo Ancelotti, and Gennaro Gattuso in Naples.

And it was under Luciano Spalletti that the Pole really found his best form.

Zielinski was a key part of the Napoli team that won the Serie A title in dominant fashion during the 2022-23 season.

Maccarone: Piotr Zielinski A “Perfect Signing” For Inter Milan

Former striker Maccarone looked back on Zielinski as a teammate.

“He was about twenty years old,” he recalled. “He was very shy, reserved. At least at first – despite having already come to Italy a few years earlier.”

“He was reserved off the pitch, but you could see his qualities right away.”

“On a technical level,” Maccarone said of Zielinski, “he was always extremely good.”

“I always told him: If I don’t see you at one of the top ten teams in Europe eventually, it means I don’t understand anything about football.”

“He’s very good with both feet,” the former striker said of Zielinski.

“He never lets his opponent predict what he wants to do.”

Maccarone continued that “Next season he’ll be playing for Inter.”

He called the Nerazzurri “undoubtedly one of the best teams in Europe.”

As far as whether Zielinski will become a starter right away for Inter, Maccarone anticipated that “He’ll find his way into the team little by little.”

“The way that Inter play is perfect for him.”

“At the big teams, who play in more competitions, you have to prove your worth.”

But in the view of Maccarone, “He’ll be able to earn his place at Inter.”

“Both in the role that he had at Napoli – but also, if necessary, Inzaghi can use him as a second striker.”
