PSG interest looms over Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper note that the Frenchman has an 85 million release clause, but also is not keen on leaving Inter.

By all accounts, Inter’s plan is to not sell any of their big name players this summer.

However, there is always the possibility of a huge offer causing the club’s plans to change.

That had been the case, for example, when Chelsea offered a mammoth fee for striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer of 2021.

And as recently as a week ago, there were links between midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu and Bayern Munich. Reportedly, had the Germans made a large enough offer, Inter could have relented.

And in the case of striker Thuram, it is completely clear how large an offer would be needed to prise the 26-year-old from the Nerazzurri.

PSG Interest Looms Over Marcus Thuram – 85M Release Clause At Inter

Inter signed Thuram on a free transfer last summer after his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expired.

And in the deal that the Frenchman signed with the Nerazzurri, there is a 85 million release clause.

That’s hardly a small fee for any club to pay for a player who was on the move for nothing last summer.

But it represents a clear number for any interested club.

Inter will not let Thuram go for any less than his release clause. But if an offer comes in that triggers it, there is little that they could do.

And according to the Gazzetta, there is one club in particular that are considering making an offer of 85 million for Thuram.

That is Paris Saint-Germain. The Parisians are considering how to move on from Kylian Mbappe, whose move to Real Madrid leaves a sizable hole in their attack.

PSG would like to build around French players.

Therefore, Thuram is a natural enough target. The Inter striker has started for France throughout the Euros this summer.

Nevertheless, the Gazzetta note, PSG would have a lot of work to do convincing Thuram to make the move.

By all accounts the 26-year-old is completely happy at Inter.

The move to the Nerazzurri has unlocked Thuram’s best form. Therefore, for the time being, there is no indication that he’d want to leave after just one season.

Nevertheless, the Gazzetta notes, the fact that there is a defined release clause means that there will still be a bit of a dark cloud over Thuram’s future of PSG do press to sign him.
