Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has completely rubbished recent transfer links that he could leave Inter Milan for Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old Turkey captain spoke to German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland, via FCInterNews. He stressed that he has never considered a departure this summer.

The links between Inter midfielder Calhanoglu and German giants Bayern didn’t last very long. Things pretty much wrapped themselves up after three or four days, not much of a transfer saga.

But in that time, there was plenty of drama and anxiety.

Reports indicated that Bayern had already met with Calhanoglu’s agent a couple of times.

The Bavarians were reportedly ready to offer the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder a four-year contract with increased wages.

And reports further suggested that Bayern were getting close to making Inter an offer.

The Bavarians would have had to make a very large bid for Calhanoglu. The Turk is absolutely crucial to Inter, and was named as the best midfielder in Serie A last season.

However, that is exactly what Bayern were prepared to do, per reports.

Hakan Calhanoglu: “Leaving Inter For Bayern Never Even An Idea”

However, the rumours regarding Calhanoglu potentially joining Bayern more or less evaporated in an instant.

The reason for this was a statement from the player himself.

After avoiding commenting on the subject for a couple days, Calhanoglu finally made his feelings clear.

The 30-year-old released a statement on his Instagram account. He made clear that he’s “extremely happy” at Inter and has no plans to leave.

And Calhanoglu has given further confirmation of his plans for this summer and next season.

“I’m staying at Inter,” the midfielder made crystal clear. “Because I’m simply happy there.”

“My family and I feel comfortable there,” Calhanoglu continued.

“My children go to school there. I’ve built everything there.”

“That’s why leaving was never an idea that I considered,” the 30-year-old said of Bayern links.
