Inter Milan have drawn a list of possible Tajon Buchanan replacements, and it includes their former players Joao Cancelo and Ivan Perisic.

The Canadian international sustained an injury while on international duty.

The 25-year-old has already undergone surgery to repair his fractured tibia. But this knock could leave him on the sidelines for circa five months.

So according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri are reflecting on their options to replace Buchanan.

The Canadian has been acting as an understudy for Federico Dimarco on the left flank. But he can also feature on the right wing, which is his original position.

The source notes that Inter still have the young Mattia Zanotti on the books. However, they could also seek external solutions.

But at the moment, the loan option remains an unpopular choice for the management, even if it would save Inter some cash and allow them to continue their pursuit of Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson.

Interestingly, the Turin-based newspaper mentions the possible returns of two former Nerazzurri stars.

The first is Cancelo who spent the 2017/18 at Appiano Gentile on loan from Valencia.

The 30-year-old still has a contract with Man City until 2027, but his future is uncertain following last year’s loan stint at Barcelona.

The Portuguese can operate on either flank. But as the source notes, Cancelo is unlikely to accept to play second-fiddle.

Inter Milan Consider Bringing Back Joao Cancelo & Ivan Perisic

The other possible returnee is Perisic who has just finalized a free transfer to his original club Hajduk Split following a six-month loan spell.

The Croatian was an Inter player between 2015 and 2022, but his relatively advanced playing age could be an issue. The winger turned 35 in February.

The report also adds that free agents Marcos Alonso and Layvin Kurzawa remain unconvincing options for Inter.

Finally, Bologna’s Dan Ndoye is more likely to arrive in case the club sells Denzel Dumfries.
