Stefano Pioli is already laying plans for his imminent appointment at Al-Ittihad, and it reportedly includes Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij.

AC Milan decided to end their collaboration with the Italian manager at the end of last season. They have already appointed Paulo Fonseca as his replacement.

The 58-year-old is now widely expected to be confirmed as Al-Ittihad’s new head coach. The Saudi Pro League giants already have a star-studded squad. This includes the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho.

Nevertheless, Pioli will be looking to bring some familiar faces along.

According to Calciomercato, the former Inter and Fiorentina manager has already requested the signing of de Vrij.

The 32-year-old has been plying his trade at Appiano Gentile since making the move from Lazio in 2018.

The Dutchman still has another year on his contract. He is currently occupied with the Dutch national team that is participating in EURO 2024.

As the source explains, the Nerazzurri club could be in favor of this sale.

Stefano Pioli Wants To Bring Inter Milan Defender Stefan De Vrij To Al-Ittihad

That is because Inter are searching the market for a new defender following Tajon Buchanan’s injury (and move back Carlos Augusto to the wingback role).

And as reported earlier this evening, the Italian champions have revived their interest in Alessandro Buongiorno.

However, the Nerazzurri must swiftly raise funds for the move, as the Torino defender is in advanced negotiations to join Napoli.

So if Inter manage to sell de Vrij to Al-Ittihad, they would have the necessary funds to make an offer for the Italy international.
