The Italy internationals in Inter Milan’s squad have wasted no time in getting back to top form after a disappointing EURO 2024.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
It would be fair to say that EURO 2024 did not go according to plan for the Italian national team.
The Azzurri did manage to make it out of a tough group containing Spain and Croatia. This was courtesy of a dramatic last-gasp equalizer against Croatia.
However, the performances were not terribly convincing from Luciano Spalletti’s team.
And in the round of sixteen, Italy bombed out against Switzerland.
Inter players were at the heart of Italy’s squad. All of Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Davide Frattesi, and Matteo Darmian started matches at the Euros.
And while there were a few positive performances and moments from individual Inter players, Spalletti’s plan to build his team around the quality and chemistry that had allowed Inter to dominate in Serie A last season never quite worked out.

Inter’s Italian contingent therefore return from EURO 2024 with a lot of disappointment to get out of their system.
Early signs are that the Azzurri players are doing just that, though.
A silver lining of going out at the round of sixteen of the Euros – from an Inter perspective at least – is that the Italy players in Inter’s squad have made relatively early returns to preseason training.
All five Italian internationals came off the bench in Saturday’s friendly against Las Palmas.
And the signs were that they are all ready to pick up where they left off last season.
The Euros may have been a setback for Italy. And for the Nerazzurri players who came into the tournament with big expectations.
But at club level, Inter’s Italian core are already resembling last club season more than their summer disappointments.
