Simone Inzaghi is happy with the “mentality” that Inter Milan showed in their friendly draw against Pisa yesterday.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, after the 1-1 draw.
Yesterday, Inter played their fourth friendly match of preseason.
And it was the first friendly that the Nerazzurri did not manage to win.
In their previous friendly matches, Inter had beaten the likes of Lugano, Pergolettese, and Las Palmas.
Yesterday, however, Inter could only manage a draw. The match against Serie B side Pisa finished with a 1-1 scoreline.
The draw came courtesy of a very late equalizing goal from Nerazzurri defender Yann Bisseck. The German did make sure that his team at least avoided defeat.
Simone Inzaghi Hails Inter Milan “Mentality” In Friendly Vs Pisa
In preseason, the results of friendly matches is not what matters, of course.
What is really is important is that the team take the opportunity to get into condition and start to find their tactical chemistry for when the competitive matches start up.
At the same time, though, the friendly matches can certainly play their role in establishing the atmosphere of the team’s preparations for the season to come, and potentially building momentum.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi gave his thoughts after yesterday’s match against Pisa.
“These matches are important for getting minutes in our legs,” said the 48-year-old.
“Pisa played a good match,” he added.
Inzaghi said that “I’m happy with the attitude from my team. They didn’t want to lose, even in a friendly.”
“That’s the mentality I like to see,” the coach said.
Inter begin their Serie A season in two weeks. Their first competitive match of the campaign is against Genoa.
The Nerazzurri squad is now nearly complete in training, with only Lautaro Martinez needing to return from holiday.
