Fiorentina are pushing to sign Inter Milan target Albert Gudmundsson, with an increased offer to Genoa for the Icelandic international.
This according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews. They report that La Viola have made a bid for an €18 million paid loan with a €6 million purchase obligation.
Gudmundsson has been marked out as one of Inter’s major targets for the summer transfer window.
The Nerazzurri have been targeting the Icelandic international for months now. Meanwhile, the player himself is reportedly keen on the move.
However, signing Gudmundsson will not be easy for Inter. The reason is simple – Gudmundsson is not going to come cheap.
The 26-year-old scored fourteen goals and assisted a further seven last season.
Therefore, there is plenty of transfer interest in Gudmundsson. And Genoa will certainly look to exploit that by cashing in for a big fee if they are to sell Gudmundsson this summer.
Fiorentina Increase Offer To Genoa For Inter Target Albert Gudmundsson
Among the other clubs to have shown an interest in signing Gudmundsson has been Fiorentina.
La Viola had already shown an interest in the former AZ Alkmaar forward’s signature in January.
However, at the time, Genoa had no intention of losing Gudmundsson in midseason. Therefore, they were not ready to listen to offers for the Icelander.
However, the summer transfer window could be a different story.
Fiorentina have identified Gudmundsson as a significant target. They are particularly keen to sign the Icelander as a replacement if Nico Gonzalez is to depart.
The Tuscans have already made their approach to Genoa.
And according to La Repubblica, La Viola have not been deterred by an initial rejected from the Grifone.
The newspaper report that Fiorentina have raised their offer.
The Tuscan club have put a paid loan deal worth €18 million on the table for Gudmundsson. This would also contain a purchase option worth €6 million.
That would take the total value of the offer to around €24 million.
Fiorentina now await Genoa’s response, as they look to wrap up a deal before any other teams – principally Inter.
