Inter Milan could make Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti a surprise solution in attack after the Neroverdi’s relegation to Serie B.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They note that bringing the 25-year-old back could be useful for UEFA list purposes, as he came through Inter’s academy.
Inter are still considering making another attacking signing this summer.
The Nerazzurri currently have four senior forwards in the squad. There are Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Marko Arnautovic, and Mehdi Taremi.
The question, however, is whether that would be sufficient in terms of depth.
Injuries to the likes of Arnautovic and Taremi at the moment underline the fragile balance that Inter have in attack.
When one forward was out with injury last season, the attacking depth at times appeared to be stretched thin.
And next campaign the problem could be even worse. Inter will have more matches than ever to put their squad depth to the test.
Therefore, Inter are considering signing another striker before the end of the transfer window.
Inter Milan Could Bring Back Andrea Pinamonti
According to Tuttosport, one potential opportunity would be for Inter to bring back 25-year-old Sassuolo striker Pinamonti.
The Nerazzurri sold Pinamonti to Sassulolo in the summer of 2022. This followed a successful season on loan with Empoli.
It seems as though Pinamonti will leave the Neroverdi this summer, however.
The Emilians suffered relegation to Serie B last season. He is unlikely to want to play a season in the second division.
As of yet, however, Pinamonti has not joined a new club.
And a big factor that could make the 25-year-old a solution for Inter would be the fact that he is a player who came through their youth academy system.
That does not just mean that Pinamonti knows the environment. It would also be helpful for the purposes of registering their UEFA list.
On the other hand, Pinamonti is likely to want to join a club where he’d receive regular playing time. That would not be the case at Inter, where he’d be a backup option.
Moreover, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi reportedly wants to sign a forward with a different profile than is already in the squad if the club do make an attacking signing.
That does not really describe Pinamonti. The Sassuolo striker is a tall, physical centre-forward with a similar profile to Arnautovic or Taremi.
