Inter Milan goalkeeper Ionut Andrei Radu is reportedly on the verge of completing a transfer to Sassuolo.

The 27-year-old is a youth product of the club who never managed to carve himself an important role with the senior squad.

The Romanian served as a backup for former Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic in the 2021/22 campaign.

But unfortunately for the custodian, his blunder against Bologna cost Inter the advantage in a razor-tight title race. This paved the way for AC Milan’s triumph at the end of the season.

Since then, Radu had loan experiences at Cremonese, Auxerre and most recently Bournemouth, but without finding much success.

The Romania international still has another year on his Inter contract, but the club doesn’t intend to keep him around.

The Italian champions have been trying to find the shot-stopper a new home, and have apparently succeeded in their mission.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via FcInterNews, Radu will complete a transfer to Sassuolo.

Inter Milan & Sassuolo Reach An Agreement For The Transfer Of Andrei Radu

The Emilians suffered a shocking relegation to Serie B last term. However, they are hellbent on making a swift return to the top flight.

The Neroverdi have thus far maintained the services of key players, including Armand Lautiente and Domenico Berardi, albeit the latter is injured.

Sassuolo have also kept their longtime serving goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.

Hence, we could witness a duel between the 37-year-old Italian and Radu for the starting gloves, at the least if the veteran were to remain at the Mapei Stadium.

The source doesn’t specify the formula of the operation, but it should be a permanent transfer as the player’s contract expires at the end of the season.
