Lazio have reportedly rejected the chance to bring Inter Milan striker Joaquin Correa back to their ranks.

The Estudiantes youth product had stints at Sampdoria and Sevilla in the past, but reached the peak of his powers during his time in the Italian capital between 2018 and 2021.

His exploits at the Olimpico prompted Inter to splash 32.5 million euros for his signature three years ago.

However, the Argentine never truly cemented himself as a pillar at San Siro despite working under the guidance of his former Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi.

The 29-year-old tried to revive his career with a loan stint at Marseille last season. However, he failed to register a single goal or assist across all competitions.

Correa has now rejoined Inzaghi’s troops at Appiano Gentile, but the management is still keen to offload him.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla via FcInter1908, the striker has been offered to several clubs.

This includes his former employers Lazio. However, the Italian capital side has declined the opportunity to re-sign the player.

The Biancocelesti have been focusing on revamping their squad by replacing departing veterans with younger alternatives.

Hence, the notion of bringing back Correa failed to tempt Lazio.

Lazio Reject The Chance To Sign Inter Milan Striker Joaquin Correa

Over the past 24 hours, news reports in Italy have also linked the Argentina international with a move to Genoa.

The Grifone are about to sell Mateo Retegui who will join Atalanta as a direct replacement for the injured Gianluca Scamacca.

Moreover, Fiorentina are still pushing to sign Albert Gudmundsson.

Therefore, the Ligurians are in dire need of attacking reinforcement. But we shall see if they would consider a move for Correa.

Pedulla also reveals that the striker’s future could lie away from Serie A. In recent weeks, AEK Athens emerged as a possible candidate for his signature.
