Simone Inzaghi still wants Inter Milan to make two more signings before the summer transfer window slams shut.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the coach still wants another defender and forward for the season ahead.

By and large, Inter did their business early this summer.

It would be an understatement to say that in the cases of Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski’s signings. Those deals were in the works months in advance, as they were free transfers.

Then, Inter wasted little time in securing a deal to sign Josep Martinez from Genoa as the backup to Yann Sommer in goal.

Meanwhile, the most important business for Inter arguably has not been signings. Rather, keeping the squad from last season together has been the key task.

In that sense, Inter have had a successful window. They have resisted Bayern Munich’s interest in Hakan Calhanoglu, and worked successfully on some important contract extensions.

Inter have made a new deal for Nicolo Barella official two months ago.

And the confirmation of extensions of Lautaro Martinez and Denzel Dumfries’s contracts should arrive shortly.

Simone Inzaghi Still Wants Inter Milan To Sign A Defender & Forward

So all in all, Inzaghi doesn’t have too much to complain about.

Inter have kept the team that won the Serie A title last season together. And on paper, they’ve even improved it.

But Inzaghi doesn’t believe the work is done yet.

First of all, Inter will need to sign a defender. This will be to ensure adequate depth in the back three with Carlos Augusto set to play mainly at wingback next season.

And Inzaghi also wants a striker.

The situation at the moment – with two of Inter’s four attacking options out with injuries – underlines how fragile the attacking depth is in the Nerazzurri’s squad.

Moreover, Inzaghi would like a bit more tactical versatility in attack.

The coach is hoping Inter bring in a forward who is particularly proficient at dribbling.

There is not yet a massive rush to do any business. Inter have three weeks to go before the summer transfer window closes.

But by the team that the window slams shut, Inzaghi hopes to see two new faces.
