Inter Milan are reportedly tracking young Ajax fullback Devyne Rensch since they still have doubts about Denzel Dumfries and his future plans.
The 28-year-old’s contract extension has been an ongoing saga for a year or so.
The Nerazzurri have recently made progress in their talks with Dumfries’ agent. The two sides apparently reached an agreement in principle over a net salary worth 4 million euros per year.
And yet, the signatures have yet to arrive, casting some doubts about the player’s future.
As reported yesterday, Inter expect the former PSV Eindhoven to hand a definitive answer upon his return from the current international break.
But in the meantime, the Italian champions are still exploring their options on the market.
According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri could pursue Ajax youngster Rensch.
The Turin-based newspaper claims Inter directors are keen admirers of the 21-year-old.
Inter Milan Tracking Devyne Rensch While Denzel Dumfries Future Remains A Mystery
The Lelystad has been developing his game at Ajax since joining the club in 2016. He climbed his way up the ranks and has been a member of the first team since 2020.
Nevertheless, Rensch has managed to take his game up a notch as of late, cementing himself as one of the Lancers’ best breakout stars.
However, the young fullback is running on an expiring contract. This makes him even more enticing for Inter and the other suitors, as he could be available for free next summer.
Rensch primarily operates at right-back, but is a versatile defender who can play anywhere at the back. He can also feature as a left-back or even a central defender.
