Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a big fan of midfielder Piotr Zielinski, whom he hopes can bring more success to Inter Milan.
The 35-year-old spoke to Polish broadcaster TVPSport, via FCInterNews, praising his new teammate.
Inter brought in 30-year-old Polish international midfielder ZIelinski this summer.
Zielinski arrived on a free transfer after his contract with Napoli expired.
Inter were seen as pulling off a major coup by signing Zielinski.
The Pole is a player with significant experience in Serie A. He spent eight years with Napoli, under the likes of Maurizio Sarri, Carlo Ancelotti, Gennaro Gattuso, and Luciano Spalletti.
Zielinski played a key role when Napoli won the Serie A title during the 2022-23 season.
And the 30-year-old also had Serie A experience with the likes of Udinese and Empoli earlier in his career.
Meanwhile, Zielinski also has a wealth of experience at international level. He has so far won 94 caps for Poland, having been a full international since 2013.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan: “Hopefully Zielinski Can Help Inter Win Trophies”
Zielinski is going to have his work cut out for him getting playing time at Inter.
The Pole has joined a team with a well-established first-choice midfield of Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella.
Meanwhile, there are young players pushing for more of a role. Both Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani will certainly hope to have opportunities this season.
But Inter have made a statement by bringing in Zielinski.
The Nerazzurri want to have ample depth, with starting quality beyond just eleven players.
Zielinski missed Inter’s Serie A opener through injury. And then he did not feature in either of the team’s other two matches thus far in the campaign.
But Zielinski certainly has the quality that means that he can have his say as the season goes on.
The Pole’s new teammate Mkhitaryan said that “Piotr is a great player.”
“I’m happy to have him here, because he will give us a lot.”
“I think he’ll become an important player,” the Armenian continued. “I’m sure of it.”
“It’s clear to see what he’s capable of in training,” Mkhitaryan said of Zielinski. “I wish him good luck, and hopefully he can help us win trophies.”
