From Giorgio Scalvini and Perr Schuurs to Virgil van Dijk and Jonathan Tah, Inter Milan are searching for a replacement for Francesco Acerbi.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, detail the Nerazzurri’s plans in defense.
One of Inter’s priorities next summer is likely to be signing a defender.
The Nerazzurri have a couple of reliable veterans at the centre of their back three currently.
There’s Stefan de Vrij, who is currently 32 years of age. And then, Acerbi, who will be 37 at the end of this season.
And it is precisely this that means the Nerazzurri want to seek a replacement.
For the time being, Acerbi is still up to the task.
However, Tuttosport note, Inter are being realistic about the Italian international’s prospects for the future. They understand that they must find a succession plan soon.
Scalvini & Van Dijk Among Possible Inter Replacements For Acerbi
There are a couple names within Serie A that Inter would consider as replacements for Acerbi.
And both, as it happens, are currently on the sidelines with knee injuries.
One is Torino defender Perr Schuurs. The former Ajax defender has a very similar profile to Acerbi, and would be an ideal candidate for marshalling the penalty area at the centre of the back three.
And the “dream” target would be Atalanta’s Scalvini. Aged twenty, the Italian could be a solution for well over a decade in Inter’s defense.
Meanwhile, from abroad Inter are continuing to monitor Valencia defender Yarek Gasiorowski, who had already been a target this summer.
And then, there is the prospect of a free transfer signing. Inter are certainly always on the hunt for such deals.
PSV defender Olivier Boscagli will be available on a free transfer next summer. He is already on Inter’s radar.
And the Nerazzurri are also big fans of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah. He has already confirmed that he will leave his current club when his contract expires at the end of next June.
Inter would have plenty of competition to sign Tah, however – including German giants Bayern Munich.
Then, there could be one more highly ambitious target for Inter. Should Dutch international Virgil van Dijk not sign an extension with Liverpool, the Nerazzurri could make their move, reports Tuttosport.
