Striker Mehdi Taremi is likely to start for Inter Milan in their Serie A match away to Monza after the international break.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter are just a few days from their return to Serie A action now.
Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is considering what his starting lineup will be when the team travel to Monza on Sunday.
The coach is juggling a few considerations.
Firstly, there is the international break itself. Some players have stayed behind and trained with Inzaghi. Others, on the other hand, have returned from international duty at different times.
And then there is the matter of Inter’s intense week ahead.
Inzaghi is not just thinking about the match against Monza.
There’s no doubt that the Inter coach will also have an eye on the following two matches.
Inter face Manchester City away in their Champions League opener on Wednesday. Then, the following weekend, they square off with city rivals AC Milan in the derby.
Mehdi Taremi To Start For Inter Vs Monza In Serie A Return
According to the Gazzetta, one of the player who Inzaghi will be most concerned with keeping fresh is captain Lautaro Martinez.
The Argentine is certainly one of Inter’s key men. The coach will want his skipper starting in matches of the importance of those against Milan and City.
Moreover, Martinez will be one of the last Inter players to return to training.
The 27-year-old will only back from international duty tomorrow after a transatlantic flight.
As such, putting Martinez straight back into action against Monza would hardly be ideal in view of having the captain at his best against City and Milan.
Therefore, the Gazzetta report, Inzaghi plans to rest Martinez on Sunday. At least from the start.
Accordingly, there will be a chance for Iranian international Taremi to make his second Serie A start of the season.
