Midfielder Kristjan Asllani will start for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Monza.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They anticipate that Hakan Calhanoglu will get a breather in view of upcoming matches.
Inter return to Serie A action from the international break tomorrow.
The Nerazzurri travel to Monza for their fourth league match of the season.
It is not as though Inter will be underestimating Monza. They may have beaten the Brianzoli both home and away last season, but the previous campaign they failed to take three points from either match.
However, Inter have other massive commitments just on the horizon.
The Nerazzurri take on Manchester City in their Champions League opener in midweek. Then next week it will be the derby against city rivals AC Milan.
Therefore, there is little doubt that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have an eye on the future rather than just tomorrow’s match in Lombardy as he makes his team selection.
Kristjan Asllani To Start For Inter Vs Monza – Calhanoglu Gets A Rest
One player who is absolutely crucial for Inter is Calhanoglu.
The 30-year-old is the Nerazzurri’s main holding midfielder. He is responsible for orchestrating the team’s play in possession, as well as having plenty of defensive responsibilities.
As such, Inzaghi will certainly want Calhanoglu fresh and at his best for the matches against City and Milan.
The Turkish international had suffered a slight muscle problem in Inter’s last match before the break.
However, Calhanoglu did come back to full fitness to play two matches with Turkey.
Tomorrow, however, the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder will get the night off according to the Corriere, at least from the start of the match.
The newspaper predict that it will instead be Kristjan Asllani who starts in holding midfield for the Nerazzurri.
The 22-year-old Albanian international will get his first start of the season for Inter.
