Midfielder Kristjan Asllani has extended his contract with Inter Milan until the end of June 2028.
The Nerazzurri confirmed the new deal for the Albanian international in an official announcement.
Asllani joined Inter from Empoli in the summer of 2022.
The Albanian international joined the Nerazzurri on an initial loan deal. However, this contained the obligation for the Nerazzurri to make the signing permanent.
Asllani initially signed a contract with Inter until the end of June 2027.
Inter signed Asllani to be the understudy to Marcelo Brozovic in the holding midfield role initially.
However, in the 2022-23 season, Brozovic lost his starting place.
It was not to Asllani, however. Rather, Hakan Calhanoglu was handed the opportunity to play in the regista position during lengthy periods where Brozovic was on the sidelines with injury.
And the Turkish international became Inter’s first-choice holding midfielder.
Therefore, last summer, Inter sold Brozovic. However, they kept Asllani, who became the understudy to Calhanoglu.

Given his status as a backup to Brozovic and then Calhanoglu, Asllani has not been a regular starter for Inter.
However, the 22-year-old had had the occasional chance to start matches.
Yesterday, Asllani was in fact in the Inter starting eleven against Monza.
Moreover, the Albanian has regularly had the chance to come on as a substitute in matches.
In total, Asllani has made 63 appearances for Inter. He has scored one goal for the Nerazzurri.
Meanwhile, Asllani is also a regular for the Albanian national team.
The Inter midfielder has made a total of 25 appearances for his national team, aged only 22. He has scored twice for the Eagles.
Asllani was a regular in the Albania starting eleven at the Euros this summer.
Inter have shown their faith in Asllani with this new contract extension for the long term.
